Thanks Danny.
Dean is also 2nd and 3rd and Danny is AOK! How about 4th?:-)
Enormous Obama organizing even in Charlotte, NC. Charlotte? Wow. That's a fairly conservative area.
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/3...
So here's what I'm thinking.
We have a lot of young new voters who are very enthused by BO.
Idea #1. Re-instate the draft. That will (should) get them out in the streets in droves (the way we older folks were during Nam) They could help bring an end to war in the ME if they have the numbers. They would need to really get out there and take the power and take risks and do it for more than one or two days.
Idea #2. Encourage the supers to choose HC as the nominee. That would (hopefully) bring out the same youths, angry as hell, and it would force the dem party to change it's way of doing bidness, while also recanting their way of choosing the nominee. So if BO has the popular vote, he gets the nomination, and maybe we get rid of this archaic electoral college and nominating procedure.
We will not have the power- (I agree with Huron and dog) until/unless the youth of this country stand up and scream and march or even do more. I'm not sure even this would work, but it's time for them to work enmasse to make it true that "you have the power."
Voting is no longer enuf. We've learned that.
"So?"

It wasn't my intent, at least not today, to be snarky or overly-political, but I want to post this cuz it made me laugh out loud several times.
Speaking of split personalities, now I think I will post this very very different link.
Pretty sad when the 8th poster on a new thread is the one that goes back to tell the old thread. . . .

The New York Times on Obama and Deval -- Assume Nothing, Question EverythingPosted March 27, 2008 | 08:17 PM (EST)
...
critical thinking, the ability to see an advertisement, hear a presentation, read a news story with a questioning eye on what's behind the claims being made, who are the sources, who benefits, who does not, what's the context, what are the implications of the story -- in other words -- the Colbert truthiness of it all.
The venerable NYT runs a front page, above the fold, story about Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick's problems in his first two years in office. It's a legitimate evaluative survey for every governor of any state. And every governor has to go through it -- in their state's newspapers.
But this story is in a national paper from New York, not Massachusetts. If critical thinking is applied, there are some reasonable questions to ask. Why this governor? Why now? Why on the front page of this most powerful national newspaper?
...
Why now? The implied logic and conclusion seems clear - guilt by similarity. Deval is Obama. Obama is all new, change and eloquence with questionable governing skills. Oh, and he's black Really?
Critical question: Why did the editors chose this governor to compare with Obama? Why not compare Obama with Vermont Governor Timothy Kaine? He's a newbie Governor in a state that hasn't elected a Democrat since 1964. He was all about change. He's also an Obama supporter. Why not him?
...
If you take anything from my diary I hope its this. Clinton supporters are deeply hurt. No matter what you think about Clinton, her supporters are good people. They're on our side, and they're hurt.
As it starts to sink in that this is over (and it is), Clinton's supporters are going to be deeply pained. We don't need to pile on. These are our friends. They really are, even if they look like bitter enemies right now. Lets stop hurting our friends, please. We've won.

I spent the afternoon with a 75 year old Republican woman who thinks the country is off track and will vote for Obama, to cancel out those Democratic women who would flip the Supreme Court and decades of their effort. they will come to their senses, but I too felt the hurt from one of our Hillary gender based supporters yesterday much like the diary
here in Iowa we have lots of experience backing candidates that later drop out so most take one loss or another gracefully with a grain of salt

The Bosnia flap undermined Mrs. Clinton’s case for experience at a moment when she is desperately trying to convince her party’s superdelegates that she is the only Democrat who can win. Perhaps worse, though, the controversy played perfectly into an anti-Clinton narrative that Mr. Obama has peddled — namely, that Clintons, both of them, will say or do anything to win. (Exit polls from the Mississippi primary showed that half the voters questioned Mrs. Clinton’s integrity.) Even should she manage to snatch the nomination away at this late date, she can expect to run up against that same indictment from Mr. McCain in the fall, along with ads repeating her statements about Bosnia and the non-existent snipers. In other words, that one could be hard to unstick.

It not wise to make youth feel used.
Å lot of peeps who get firsties aren't going back to inform the old thread...I think it's mostly becuz the posts end up god only knows where..When I'm first, I go back anyway.
Why would they feel "used" Susan? Maybe they would feel very motivated, altho I clearly see your point.
We need them to *have the power." We need to somehow motivate them to become active, not just voters or uninvolved if BO is the nominee. How do we do that?
Jennie, I agree and would add that Rove will have plenty to haul out against BO as well.
The party has problems.
Put them on the same tickie and let's get on with beating McC.
Uh oh! This should tell us that we will also be there just as long. Now I wonder what really did go on with NaftaGate. Diversion? We will be electing another *war* prez, no matter who it is. :-(
Hillary cannot be on the ticket. That would be rewarding bad behavior.
From Americablog
You'll recall that the media declared Hillary the winner of Texas before it was actually over. Texas had a primary and a caucus, and Hillary only won the primary. The winner of Texas is decided by adding the delegates from both the primary and the caucus. Come this weekend, we should find out that Obama really won Texas. A NY Daily News reporter accidentally got invited to a private conference call Bill Clinton was holding today with Texas delegates. Seems the campaign is terrified that people may finally figure out this weekend that Hillary lost Texas.
Only 40 calls? I'm sure we made more than that.

Reyes FISA Forum: "Both Sides are Angry"
...Democracy For America, a liberal political organization, attempted to pressure Reyes to drop his support of offering immunity to telecommunications companies, but he said that the campaign amounted to only about 40 phone calls to his office about the issue. He said he has had opposition from both ends of the ideological spectrum for his work on the bill.
“I know I’m doing a good job when both sides are angry at me,” he said.
Reyes said the bill would ensure “individual Americans’ right were protected” in regard to government surveillances programs aimed at foreign targets. He also said it would give the U.S. House the footing needed to stand against the Bush administrations policies. ...
w. Michigan weather report...
It is 25 deg and blowing snow out of the north so the CF down to around 15 deg.
should get 3-5 inches of snow on top of 2 inches of rain. It is too sliipery to go anywhere. Cars in ditches all over the area.
Spring is just around the corner. This sounds like Bush saying we have turned the corner on Iraq. The troops keep turning corners and bombs keep killing them.

That's what my 18 yr old said as well. I hope she won't be disappointed in one of life's lessons.
Woot Simon and Danny.
... Simon Rose, a Miami Democrat who's active in the Democracy for America group, said U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz' position on three South Florida congressional races "just sent shock waves through the Democratic, and especially the progressive communities.
"We feel that she needs to be held accountable," he said. "The conversations really revolve around betrayal, feeling betrayed. She's not the same person who was elected just a couple of short terms ago." ...

...The liberal political action committee Democracy for America Monday also protested: “How can Debbie Wasserman Schultz be the head of the Red to Blue program and not be willing to fight Republicans in her own backyard?” Daniel I. Medress, Communications Director for the PAC, asked in a press release Monday. “She has to step down as chair of the Red to Blue program or be removed from that position by the DCCC.” ...

Fighting continues in Basra
A US government employee was killed in Thursday's Green Zone mortar attacks and three more employees were wounded, according to Mirembe Nantongo, a US embassy spokeswoman.

One would think, after five years of QUAGMIRE, the security wouldn't be like this at the U.S. Embassy.
I thought VICTORY was just another battle away.
Until Hillary sez No Mas, the primary battle goes on.
It seems everyone is asking her to drop out. There is still the tiniest chance she can win so she will stay in until the numbers stay otherwise. Everytime the Clintons slam Obama, their negatives go up.
Obama has to target McCain on exiting Iraq by getting others involved. McCain is very vulnurable as the civil war intensifies and more people are killed.
Cheney may be visiting other neighbors to warn them about the impending war with Iran.
A military draft will *never* happen during an election cycle.
Suicidal, or whaaaaat?
Nor would it pass in either leg. body.
Google selective service fmi.
"the Wright controversy does not appear to have undermined support for Obama's candidacy. The latest nationwide survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, conducted March 19-22 among 1,503 adults, finds that Obama maintains a 49% to 39% advantage over Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination"
Linda wrote "The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday continues to show a very close competition in the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination. It’s Clinton 46%, Obama 44%."
I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but we've already figured out that Obama will be the Democratic nominee and it's time to move on. It's not that the spectacle isn't entertaining but, seriously, Clinton supporters are batshit crazy. They need another outlet besides politics.
Hillary cannot be on the ticket. That would be rewarding bad behavior.
Obama will need someone to attract those who support Hillary because of her gender. But there are other women officeholders just as much and even more qualified than Hillary to be VP who won't bring poisoned baggage, nor a poisoned knife for Obama's back.
As for joining the two campaign organizations, Obama's is so well run that it would hurt it to merge with Hillary's sputtering money eating machine.
For people who have fallen out of the habit of checking for new threads on their own, there will be one at 11 PM.
"Hillary cannot be on the ticket. That would be rewarding bad behavior."
Ok, put Sominex Woman on and lose to McC. There will be a lot of grudge voting going on, no matter who's crowned. We can't afford grudge voting. Make them co-presidents then. Do you guys want to beat McC or do you want to punish HC? Has it occurred to you that bashing HC drives people who would vote for Obama into McC arms? That grudge thing words lotsa ways...not for me tho. I already know that we're going to have years of war presidents and wars and more killing and a blowing up of the ME. Look at their votes, listen to their speeches and read what I posted about Canada.
Keithie was saying that BO's negatives are also going up. And he's sounding a bit more even-handed.
seashell wrote "Has it occurred to you that bashing HC drives people who would vote for Obama into McC arms?"
I can honestly say that it hasn't, but the evidence is beginning to suggest that I've been crediting them excessively for their political sense.

If anyone doubts it, just go to MyDD and read the diaries -- actually the diary titles will suffice. The Hilladroids there haven't just gone over the edge, they've splat hit the pavement.
Tom and I have had our battle royales over Obama and party loyalty, but no one can tell the truth with such wry wit.
Victory's just another word for everything left to lose.
Keithie was saying that BO's negatives are also going up.
By 2%.
But even the nuts at MyDD admit Hillary's approval is in free fall.
That's why her newest personna, unveiled yesterday, is of the party healer.
This music video sounds like dud (IE mprov's group)
'least I thought so. Do you?
Works both ways, Tom. Surely you know that, but you just love digging. I've got some flowers that need transplanting.
Sitka wrote "The Hilladroids there haven't just gone over the edge, they've splat hit the pavement."
Thanks for the eye opening link. If the Clinton campaign somehow successfully engineers a victory by fiat at the August convention, I feel almost certain that the Democratic Party will disintigrate. No doubt many will celebrate the loss, but I shudder at the manner in which this will destroy the legacy of the Dean chairmanship, and deliver the country into the hands of the Republicans for perhaps the next half century.
TPM has put together a devastating compilation of Bosnia-gate.

Josh Marshall has been so even-handed this election cycle but this may have been the tipping point for him.
There will be a new thread in 2 1/2 minutes according to rumor or did Danny tell us that? So I guess I'm lasties.
I just noticed Hillary's new voice today as well. guess she's reading the polls! Let's wait though - in another couple of days - she'll get comfortable and the *real* Hillary will come back swingin'.
If the Clinton campaign somehow successfully engineers a victory by fiat at the August convention, I feel almost certain that the Democratic Party will disintigrate.
Which makes The Clintons' machinations even more unlikely to suceed (not to mention they've even been boasting about doing it).
And it sure didn't help for Bill C. to drop in to watch the game with Bill R. did it? I suspect many politicians who have been enthralled to The Clintons for 15 years want their freedom.
This reminds me of Dean's campaign.
I was hoping for a miracle then too.Maybe that's why so many Catholics support her.~ Sorry, that's out of bounds.~ Bah!
seashell wrote "There will be a new thread in 2 1/2 minutes according to rumor or did Danny tell us that?"
I really have very little psychic ability, but I've come to learn that people no longer check for new threads on their own. Instead, they rely on messages from people who stumble on the new thread, even though the most recent message shoots up the thread like a bottle rocket.

Just talked with Thankful . . . . she's fixed both 'puters, but is *still* internets deprived. She sez she loves ya all, and be kind to each other.

You men do have senses of humor at times.
Yes, I've seen people want to claim many things, regardless of truth and reality. It hasn't stopped you or others in the past, and it won't stop you in the future.
Oh, you mean, kinda of like this story on mydd.
. You all do need the back and forth. When there's no counter voice here, he go search and bring it back to work up the rest.
Clinton sounds ready to throw down over MI and FL, all the way to the convention. The thing is, she may have an opening to go there.
Consider this, with the FL and MI delegates counted... Now, some of you immediately are wound up with just the thought but spare us from flipping out in the comments. Show me if my math doesn't add up, or if I'm missing something, but don't get worked up.
Including MI & FL, Clinton is only behind in pledged-delegates by 46-56 delegates, which could be halved in Pennsylvania alone. 46 is the number going off of DCW, but 56 is what I got when using the Obama counting of pledged delegates, and adding in the 67 Obama got from FL and the 178 that Clinton got from FL and MI, that results in a 1485-1429 difference of delegates. DCW has a 1473 to 1427 margin. I imagine that 46-56 number gets updated a bit up and down with further final results coming in from the previous contests. It also should be noted that there are, in addition, 55 uncommitted delegates from MI, and 31 delegates still aligned with Edwards.

Hillary supporters live in the real world and don't claim such delusions or name calling that the Obama supporters seem to always resort to.

Yes, whatever you say.
Great stuff from myDD about how Obama is barely trailing Clinton.
