Pasadena DFA Endorses Russ Warner in the CA 26th Congressional District

Pasadena DFA isn't satisfied working just in its own CA 29th Congressional District. No, we want to help a neighboring and very red district go blue. The CA 26th Congressional District has been represented for too long by a 25 year Rupublican incumbent - David Dreier. This year will be his last year representing this district!

Pasadena DFA is endorsing Democrat, Russ Warner, for Congress in the CA 26th Congressional District!

Pasadena DFA is proud to endorse Russ Warner and we did so by holding our March chapter meeting several cities to the east in Monrovia - heart of the CA 26th. We believe in expanding the progressive community in the San Gabriel Valley and this was a great way to show it.

We had 30 people come out to hear our endorsement and get introduced to a great candidate. Russ talked about why he is running. With a son who served 17 months in Iraq, Russ knows we have to end the war in Iraq! He will end the rubber-stamp Republican representation in the CA 26th that saw Dreier vote with President Bush over 90% of the time. Russ is a local business owner with strong roots in this community and we are looking forward to going to work for him!

Before the meeting started with Russ, we also did a half hour letter-writing action on voter protection.  We wrote to local, state and national representatives for our state.  The stance we took with on this issue was:

"Paper ballots are a fundamental right of every voter. Not a paper 'trail' or a paper 'record,' but a paper ballot. Nothing is more essential to our democracy than the accuracy of our elections, and the confidence among our electorate that we are assured a true ballot for every vote."

We wrote 55 letters!! We've written over 100 letters to our local, state and congressional representatives in the last two chapter meetings!

It was a fun, informative, and productive March Chapter Meeting for Pasadena DFA out in the San Gabriel Valley!

The California 26th Congressional District is looks like this:

“If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of our currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and the corporations that will grow up will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.”was this man a fortune teller? Even though the nation is stumbling towards an economic hard-landing; the banks are still only interested in finding a way to save themselves. Last week, the New York Times revealed a “confidential proposal” from Bank of America to members of Congress asking the US government to guarantee $739 billion in mortgages that are at “moderate to high risk” of defaulting to save the banks from potential losses. On Thursday , Rep. Barney Frank–operating in the interests of his banking constituents–made an appeal in the House of Representatives on this very issue, saying that congress should consider buying up some of these sinking mortgages to help struggling homeowners. But why should the taxpayer pay for the mistakes of privately-owned banks; especially when those banks have been bilking the public out of billions of dollars through the sale of worthless subprime securities?

My point: CP 1995, not relevant to BO 2008.
Done:)

===============

Maybe to a few right wingers over 70,  having a "negro" (he does have a very white mother)president is a herrendous thought - but get with it, cC, they are few and far between and anybody under 30 would chuckle at such nonsense.

There is a counter weight to that negative race factor.  It is the positive factor that most people struggle with a shameful past and atrocious childhood conditioning - many caucasian people need a way to prove to themselves that they are good and decent, egalitarian people, all they need is a good reason, a good person to help them make that case - Obama is that person for many.

This is our least reliable voting group. fred, you began by making a point that a person of color would have no hurdles in an American presidential election. Tell that to any person of color.

^and that is so much jibberish^....that I'm giggling as I respond. Thanks, fred.

Just for kicks - from Daily Kos:
----
Meet The Press: Gov. Ed Rendell (D-PA) & former Senator Tom Daschle (D-SD). Very Serious discourse with a roundtable of journalists that sounds suspiciously like a porn casting session: Dan Balz, Gwen Ifill, Ron Brownstein & John Harwood. Hmmmmm....
-----
A porn casting session. LMAO.

Who won Texas?

Clinton won the popular vote, but Obama won the caucuses and more delegates.

I just can't get worked up over bragging rights.

Vic DiMaio's "blood is boiling". He is suing Dean, and will get injunction to stop do-over.

This is a really strange thing.  Sounds like this guy wants to just sue and get injunction.  Not very productive.
