Support Rep. Wexler's Call For Impeachment
Linked to groups: PA for Democracy
Please visit WexlerWantsHearings.com and sign the petition.
The following is a message from Representative Robert Wexler originally posted on Crooks and Liars:
The tremendous response to my call for impeachment hearings for Vice President Cheney confirms that the Bush Administration and Vice President Cheney must be held accountable. I have been overwhelmed by the netroots support for my call for impeachment hearings and for my website - WexlerWantsHearings.com. As of Monday afternoon - after only four days - over 80,000 people have signed up to show their support for impeachment hearings.
It is the constitutional duty of Congress to investigate the serious charges that have been leveled against Vice President Cheney, and I am using my position as a member of the House Judiciary Committee to see that hearings are held. Unfortunately, Congress and the national media ignore this serious issue. The outpouring of support documented at WexlerWantsHearings.com has been driven and supported entirely through the power of blogs, the Internet, and word of mouth. Websites like Crooks and Liars have taken on this important cause and have stepped up to fill the void left by the main stream media who still somehow believe that impeachment is a fringe idea and not worth coverage. In this case, the American people are way ahead of Congress and the media.
I was shocked when no newspaper would publish the op-ed I wrote with Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) and Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI). It is not every day that three members of the House Judiciary Committee set out a substantive case for impeachment hearings against the sitting Vice President. Yet, the national media yawned. No matter. The people have responded. Americans from all fifty states have signed up to support my call for hearings.
Originally, my goal was to gain 50,000 online signatures on behalf of impeachment hearings. Today, our goal is 250,000 supporters.
The charges against Vice President Cheney are too serious dismiss without hearings. If we band together, we can make focus the nation’s attention on this critical issue. Let’s continue to make our voices heard.
Congressman Robert Wexler

Missed most of what has been happening in the world, today.
I saw that the Packers where crushed by the mighty Bears in Chicago. WTF?
All I can say is happy holy days (yes, I am not PC. Sorry you hateful American bigots) to each and every one of you and all.
I'll just toss this in (hey, everything is just a thread of thought. Right? Yes.)...
I love Puddle's blog art.
Thanks for coming to get me, Phil :)
Typical Bears weather here, Phil. Sorry your truck is stuck.
Oh dear the Packers were whooped big time....
A few months ago I thought McCain was toast now I don't think so -- now that the NH paper has pointed out what a bloody phony Mr. Square Jaw is. That's classic.
Robert Oler must be smiling now.
Ya, Phil, I just saw about the truck. Tough year there.
Cain's an old fart and he is a belly stabber.
mary - do you have any Italian traditions you keep for Christmas?
So sorry about your truck, Phil. You have a big heart going out with those road conditions for someone else.
Denise - There is one tradition we try to do every year. It's more a bringing in the New Year sort of thing. You get someone you love (doesn't have to be a husband/wife/partner) a fancy pair of RED underwear - a thong or sexy bikini for a guy. You give it for Xmas and they wear them on New Years' Eve. Supposed to bring good luck. Also, we drink lots of Prosecco during the holidays. Enjoy your time with your family!
Oh and paine, I agree that McCain is a geezer.
I love the red underwear idear mary - that is so cool. I haven't exchanged with sweetie yet but picturing him in red bikini undies is starting to crack me up over here. He's back in California visiting with his family. On New Year's Day, they all plunge into the backyard pool in their swimsuits - and that's Northern CA, temps in the 40's or so typically.
They are nuts.
We have more tolerable traditions, like cannoli cake, cardoon, and my favorite - stuffed shells with a mixture of veal, beef, spinach, parsley, rolled out cracker crumbs, eggs and sauteed onions. And garlic, of course.

I had a ton of requests for me to repost last year's mix and this is basically a much enhanced version. I hope that everyone has a great couple of days with their families. Happys Holidays! Denise and Mary....WHAT? No Bacala(napolitan style)? (dried salted cod) or spaghetti with Anchovie and walnuts?
...lol, just for entertainment, here is the full transcript
(http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22342301/) and some quotes showing how hard and unsuccessful Tim Russert was hunting for "I've got you here!" with Ron Paul this morning AND how DEEPLY CONFUSED this highest ranking professional IS!

.........
MR. RUSSERT: You say you're a strict constructionist of the Constitution, and yet you want to amend the Constitution to say that children born here should not automatically be U.S. citizens.
REP. PAUL: Well, amending the Constitution is constitutional. What's a--what's the contradiction there?
MR. RUSSERT: So in the Constitution as written, you want to amend?
REP. PAUL: Well, that's constitutional, to do it....
Linda - My husband and kids love anchovies - not me. Yikes. In Italy whenever friends stopped by during the holidays we'd always have real Panettone with a glass of Prosecco.
former....I'm going to be kind here, but I think Ron Paul looked pre tty BAD on Russert.

I'm going to visit with my visiting family now - it was a nice break. Our New England tradition for Christmas Eve is lobster and scallops. Looking forward to that.
Nite all. Buon Natale!
No fishie for me and I'm Sicilian! Others in the family like that stuff.
Buon Natale Mary and Linda and all youse other guys.
20. Bueno! No Grappa? The first time I had Grappa, I was in Venice....with my BROTHER LOL....I'm a great sister. And we decided to try the Grappa. We sat along the Grand Canal and started to drink before dinner. My brother didn't like it so he gave me his....by the time I was done and we started walking back to our hotel to change for dinner...stopped in a Venetian Glass store. All of the sudden it felt like I was having an out of body experience....looked at all the glass around me and said "I think I better leave NOW".
I've only made homemade Panettone once. It's a lot of work...overnight...at least my recipe. I do like anchovies, it's the salt I don't like.
Hello all.
Wish everybody a happy whatever makes you happy!
Anyhow, since everybody is expressing their preference and/or dislikes....I will too.
Listened to a speech Obama did in Manchester, N.H. with Oprah.
Awful. He sounded like Howard Dean with his infamous scream.
I don't like demagogues or messiahs. Why is he screaming at us?
Any candidate that delivers their speech screaming is out with me.
Hillary sounds like she has only one principle. Anything goes to accomplish as much power as possible.
Denis, sorry, I don't really believe he is serious. He seems to be milking whatever he can.
Edwards to my ears sounds okay. Of course his confusion how to vote for or against the war is hard to forgive.
Dodd, well I missed hearing him.
America is in trouble. No Reaganesque "Good Morning America" is going to fix it.
Now we are finding out that the CIA is torturing, destroying the evidence and nothing Congress can do about it.
How are we different from Russia?
I'm in a bad mood.
This is the sound of a golden fascist Christmas. [(click(audio)]

Wacky world far as I can see.

His principles in its quintessence are aligned with those of Dean's, imo, both are what People need now.
For any who are in a bad mood:

A Geezer's Christmas
The geezer sat in his rocking chair and turned on his TV.
He watched the day's events unfold, so full of tragedy.
Murder, war, corruption, hate, brutality, and lies,
He couldn't stand the cavalcade parading past his eyes.
"For goodness' sake, it's Christmas Eve," the geezer softly said.
"What became of peace on earth? Is love and goodwill dead?"
He heard a knock at his front door. He asked, "Who could that be?"
He looked out his front window, not sure of what he'd see.
Standing at his front door was a vision clad in red.
A fat man with a snowy beard. "Please let me in," he said.
The geezer opened his front door. He wasn't quite sure why.
The fat man smiled and wiped his feet, and then he stepped inside.
"You don't have a chimney, but I thought that I'd drop in.
I'm way ahead of schedule, and I think you need a friend."
"I guess you're right," the geezer said. "Sometimes it gets so tough
to live in such a crazy world. I want to just give up."
The fat man sat down on the couch. "I know just how you feel.
You have to turn that TV off, because that's not what's real.
It makes you think that there's not much a caring soul can do.
Remember, this is not our home. We're all just passing through.
Every year about this time, most people think of me.
They miss the point. I'm not the one who came to set us free.
If you will hold Him in your heart and let Him guide your way,
you won't lose hope, you'll know that in the end you'll be OK."
The fat man stood and stretched his legs. "It's time to go," he said.
"It won't be long before those kids will crawl out of their beds."
As he headed for the door, the geezer had to know.
"Why did you stop to visit me? You have so far to go."
The fat man turned and smiled at him. "Why did I visit you?
My old friend, did you forget that I'm a geezer, too?"
Suddenly the geezer woke, still sitting in his chair.
His Christmas dream had seemed so real, but no one else was there.
He stood up from his rocking chair and toddled off to bed.
He smiled as he remembered just what the fat man said,
that things were not as hopeless as they once had been.
Despite the world, deep in his heart was peace, goodwill toward men.

I can forgive a lot of things but when it comes to being able to keep track of time ...well it's a known fact that I think this blog software sucks.
Why do I think it sucks?
Simple, it doesn't work. Well, alright, it works somewhat, primitively.
But it used to work much better. Now it's worse. What to you make of that?
Well former, I am not going to beat you up further about your choice. Good luck.
Oh sunlight sounds like you need a hug, or some good lasagna at the very least!
Denise, thanks for your empathy!~
What I need is a blog that works! At minimum.

???
...lol, really? Your opinion surprises me.
imo, it was exactly opposite.
Tim's attempts to "catch" Ron just on every single issue he tried have failed so transparently that is was only funny to watch.
What was even more funny is Tim's complete detachment from his failings.
I would just suggest to read transcript, since some things were lost because of simultaneous talks of both.

12 Days Of Christmas: John Lennon's Happy Christmas (War Is Over) Dec 23, 10:43pmOriginally conceived as an anti-Vietnam rallying cry, Happy Christmas (War Is Over) has become a yearly staple for holiday radio stations each December. It features John sarcastically lambasting listeners about another year going by without anything being done while the Harlem Childrens Choir croons War Is Over in the background. Its really a brilliant piece of protest music, but few are clever enough to pick up on its scathing double meaning
His principles in its quintessence are aligned with those of Dean's, imo, both are what People need now.
former,
I don't see how you can compare Dean to Ron.
People need no schools? Roads? Police? Firefighters?
Ron says the Government should get out of that business?
Dean never agreed with that.
We, the people agree/d to form an entity to improve our lives.
This entity is called "Government"

You have to read what Ron Paul SAYS exactly...., not what have been said ABOUT him.
People need no schools? Roads? Police? Firefighters?
Ron says the Government should get out of that business?
------
???
It tells me you NEVER READ what HE SAYS..., only HEARD what's been said ABOUT him.
What he says is, the Federal Government need not get involved in services you've mentioned only state and local ones!
(it's actually very simple..., on a way from locals to Fed. a lot of money have been "lost", e.g. redirected or simply stolen by Fed.). He is against that, against that money travel back and force.
Dean never agreed with that.
We, the people agree/d to form an entity to improve our lives.

former,
I have heard him. On my local radio station being interviewed.
Look, not everybody can/wants to be informed about everything.
What I'm interested in is that I can live the life that I want to live.
I want to be able to travel and communicate anytime, anywhere I want.
Ideally.
Individually I don't think I can accomplish this.

I think you are right..., individually everyone can accomplish much less than by non-individually.

Okay,
it seems Impeachment is off the table. Why?
It's too late. It won't succeed. It distracts from more important issues.
Without justice there is no peace.
Without peace you have war.
I don't want war. Get it?
