The following is a message from Representative Robert Wexler originally posted on Crooks and Liars:
The tremendous response to my call for impeachment hearings for Vice President Cheney confirms that the Bush Administration and Vice President Cheney must be held accountable. I have been overwhelmed by the netroots support for my call for impeachment hearings and for my website - WexlerWantsHearings.com. As of Monday afternoon - after only four days - over 80,000 people have signed up to show their support for impeachment hearings.
It is the constitutional duty of Congress to investigate the serious charges that have been leveled against Vice President Cheney, and I am using my position as a member of the House Judiciary Committee to see that hearings are held. Unfortunately, Congress and the national media ignore this serious issue. The outpouring of support documented at WexlerWantsHearings.com has been driven and supported entirely through the power of blogs, the Internet, and word of mouth. Websites like Crooks and Liars have taken on this important cause and have stepped up to fill the void left by the main stream media who still somehow believe that impeachment is a fringe idea and not worth coverage. In this case, the American people are way ahead of Congress and the media.
I was shocked when no newspaper would publish the op-ed I wrote with Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) and Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI). It is not every day that three members of the House Judiciary Committee set out a substantive case for impeachment hearings against the sitting Vice President. Yet, the national media yawned. No matter. The people have responded. Americans from all fifty states have signed up to support my call for hearings.
Originally, my goal was to gain 50,000 online signatures on behalf of impeachment hearings. Today, our goal is 250,000 supporters.
The charges against Vice President Cheney are too serious dismiss without hearings. If we band together, we can make focus the nation’s attention on this critical issue. Let’s continue to make our voices heard.

Denise - There is one tradition we try to do every year. It's more a bringing in the New Year sort of thing. You get someone you love (doesn't have to be a husband/wife/partner) a fancy pair of RED underwear - a thong or sexy bikini for a guy. You give it for Xmas and they wear them on New Years' Eve. Supposed to bring good luck. Also, we drink lots of Prosecco during the holidays. Enjoy your time with your family!
Oh and paine, I agree that McCain is a geezer.
I love the red underwear idear mary - that is so cool. I haven't exchanged with sweetie yet but picturing him in red bikini undies is starting to crack me up over here. He's back in California visiting with his family. On New Year's Day, they all plunge into the backyard pool in their swimsuits - and that's Northern CA, temps in the 40's or so typically.
They are nuts.
We have more tolerable traditions, like cannoli cake, cardoon, and my favorite - stuffed shells with a mixture of veal, beef, spinach, parsley, rolled out cracker crumbs, eggs and sauteed onions. And garlic, of course.

20. Bueno! No Grappa? The first time I had Grappa, I was in Venice....with my BROTHER LOL....I'm a great sister. And we decided to try the Grappa. We sat along the Grand Canal and started to drink before dinner. My brother didn't like it so he gave me his....by the time I was done and we started walking back to our hotel to change for dinner...stopped in a Venetian Glass store. All of the sudden it felt like I was having an out of body experience....looked at all the glass around me and said "I think I better leave NOW".
I've only made homemade Panettone once. It's a lot of work...overnight...at least my recipe. I do like anchovies, it's the salt I don't like.

Awful. He sounded like Howard Dean with his infamous scream.
I don't like demagogues or messiahs. Why is he screaming at us?
Any candidate that delivers their speech screaming is out with me.
Hillary sounds like she has only one principle. Anything goes to accomplish as much power as possible.
Denis, sorry, I don't really believe he is serious. He seems to be milking whatever he can.
Edwards to my ears sounds okay. Of course his confusion how to vote for or against the war is hard to forgive.
Dodd, well I missed hearing him.
America is in trouble. No Reaganesque "Good Morning America" is going to fix it.
Now we are finding out that the CIA is torturing, destroying the evidence and nothing Congress can do about it.

A Geezer's Christmas
The geezer sat in his rocking chair and turned on his TV.
He watched the day's events unfold, so full of tragedy.
Murder, war, corruption, hate, brutality, and lies,
He couldn't stand the cavalcade parading past his eyes.
"For goodness' sake, it's Christmas Eve," the geezer softly said.

...lol, really? Your opinion surprises me.
imo, it was exactly opposite.
Tim's attempts to "catch" Ron just on every single issue he tried have failed so transparently that is was only funny to watch.
What was even more funny is Tim's complete detachment from his failings.
I would just suggest to read transcript, since some things were lost because of simultaneous talks of both.

What he says is, the Federal Government need not get involved in services you've mentioned only state and local ones!
(it's actually very simple..., on a way from locals to Fed. a lot of money have been "lost", e.g. redirected or simply stolen by Fed.). He is against that, against that money travel back and force.
