Progressives are powerful--and first along with the Deans
Hillary Rodham Clinton told a veterans group yesterday that President Bush's troop surge is working -- but that it is still time to bring U.S. troops home from Iraq.

Talk about a mixed message. And it looks like the Democratic sheeple are going to nominate this clown!

GOOD PERSPECTIVE FROM ESKOW
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rj-eskow/how-ideas-kill-sen-bi_b_61284.html
If Sen. Biden and his think tank associates think they have a workable plan for Iraq, they need to propose it ... first, to the Iraqis, and then to the international community and the American people. But in the end, it is the people of Iraq who must decide the fate of their nation.
Dear God, haven't we learned that simple lesson yet?
Sen. Biden failed to make a decision in the real-world context before when he voted for the Iraq war resolution. He has excused himself since then, saying he didn't know how badly the Administration would mismanage both the diplomacy and the war. That means he didn't understand the greater context -- ongoing inspections on the ground, widely reported stories that the decision to attack had already been made, who would lead the effort - when he cast his vote.
Hil said:
"We can't be fighting the last war. We have to keep preparing to fight the new war."
See now 3&4, when I saw her speak that ...
the context was that the current war is Bush's failure
and when the DEMS (she would accept the primary voters choice unlike Lieberman)
...when the Dems win - a new strategy to protect America will be at hand.
Yahoo.com has 'frontpaged' the Daily Show's bit from Iraq last night -- asks if it's funny. I think it's lighthearted and very respectful of those fighting -- reminds me of something Bob Hope might have done in his heyday. jmo.

On that note Im sick of states like Iowa and NH nominating worthless candidates.........plus this system of electing leaders is so banana republic..............no wonder people like me dont waste their time with politics period...................

Jesus................God help us all...............most Democrats signed of on THIS war............they KNEW what would happen..........I dont buy their lame as excuses anymore...............the people of Iowa should forget the nice midwestern manners, apple pie and the farm tractor pull and challenge these candidates..................get tough with them..........quit smiling and being Mr Nice Guy

I hope the parliament will vote the Maliki government out of office and will have the wisdom to replace it with a less sectarian and more unifying prime minister and government," Sen. Carl M. Levin (D-Mich.) said after a three-day trip to Iraq and Jordan.
-------------------------------------------------------
Arrogant Prick!
12. It's more of a hope than a calculation.
An overwhelming majority of Progressive Democrats and Independents agree that Dennis has the issues nailed.
Why is it such a stretch to support him and vote for him?
Oh, I forgot, he's too short.
Agree about Iowa Michael. The voters there appear to be DLCers.
Now we have ABC and this is an excellent idea.
1. Unfair trade. Not only did Bill open up US markets so that our jobs could be outsourced, but he didn't do JACK SHIT to pressure the EU to lower its barriers or to encourage China to compete fairly. Speaking of China, it's odd that it was a Democratic president who finally gave China most-favoured-nation status.
2. Welfare reform act. In theory, they only pay welfare if you become involved in a job finding program. In practice, they get you a dead-end job and cut your welfare payments so that in the end, you're making no more money, and possibly even less. Possibility for advancement? I don't think so.
3. IWR. And she continues to play up this ridiculous "Iron Lady" image. Sorry, Hillary; you're no Indira Gandhi and no Golda Meir.
4. If you're at all concerned about the welfare of the Iraqis, remember that Clinton killed more of them through sanctions and bombings than Bush did. It could be argued that Bush didn't know that his war would've been such a mess, but Clinton of course knew what sanctions meant for the people of Iraq. Think about that before assuming that Republicans are necessarily more evil than Democrats.
5. Rupert Murdoch. Enough said.
6. DOMA.
And then let's just admit that she has absolutely zero charisma, half the country hates her, and whenever she talks in her annoying fake Midwestern accent, I feel like throwing something at the TV.
If she wins the nomination, I might vote for her and I might not. But during the primaries, I'm going to do whatever it takes to make sure she doesn't get nominated. I'm an Edwards supporter, but I'll take Dodd, Obama, Richardson, Biden, Kucinich, and Gravel over Hillary. Whoever is the winning candidate besides Hillary in my state at the time of my state's primary gets my vote.
To hell with Clinton and her supporters.
Edit: Please also notice that no other candidate is tied to a legacy as despicable as this one. Nothing in the Democratic Party today compares to it.
7. She supported the Bankruptcy Bill of 2001.
8. An examination of her destructive role in the fight for election integrity reveals that HRC is not a friend of democracy. She does not want free and fairly counted elections and the legislation she has introduced speaks volumes to that.
9. No more dynasties. I'm sick of this back and forth bullshit. Let someone from the common folks step forward. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x3464158

Sounds right on, but we can all bend over, clasp our hands tight in a yoga pose, and tighten up.
OK, gang, what do we do about this Hillary seemingly running away with the nomination? What do we do about IA voters caucus people? Since I'm from the midwest, I know how conservative it still is and that's why I'm no longer there. The Lutherans drove me out! LOL
Iowans are great people with whom to have a beer, but......be the first to nominate? Not anymore, please.
Sorry, Phil, but the caucus machine sucks and even Dean said that, but in nicer words.
To have a progressiv candidate we have to start off in progressive states.
Throw it all out. One day, one vote IRV.
What has happened to Levin? Who/what got to him?

But that's Ok, "get over it"?

You are opinionated..., I guess.
You know it's a free country and everyone entitled to have own opinion...we have millions of opinions..., BUT ONE DECIDER ONLY...who is doing the helluva job..., lol!
Howard Dean said some very interesing things recently in Martha's Vineyard. Video in the comments section.
Barf.............................. Here is what I plan to do. If Hillary wins I will be at the convention (the next war) enclosed in some protest cage, until we break out and take back our streets , and country. Anyone want to meet? Go Dennis.
Me? Opinionated? Of course! It's one of my "fatally flawed" characteristics.

When Hillary and Obomba eschew AIPAÇ and stop talking about these eternal and infernal wars, my OPIONION of them will change.
IMHO, Hillary cannot win the general, just possibly the nomination. She has lots of skeltons in the closet which Rove will use to crucify her. How badly could he successfully attack Gore?
History has taught us that we don't win elections with seated senators.
"Genetically, Hillary is a male."
Quote by seatmate on flight.
Hillary says she has the most experience. Yeah, six years on Walmarts board of directors.
One of our own DFA supporters is in VERY bad shape. Charlie Grapski, who has been arrested on trumped-up charges, has been taken to the hospital. I am very afraid that he has been injured severely by the jail and police actions. Please send support. He needs our help. You can read the sordid details here....

Linda, It is bizarre. Charlie has been investigating local corruption and they are now out to get him. He now faces six felonies and has been beaten in jail. Regardless of the circumstances leading up to this, hopefully we can respond to his plight.
He has been a speaker at several Demfests and given much to this community. He needs our help now.....the paper I linked to is really trying to send out the truth. Something very wrong is happening in Alachua County.

Al Gore is surprise choice of Scottsdale Dems
The Arizona Republic Tue, 21 Aug 2007 11:50 AM PDT
Democrats in District 8, which covers most of Scottsdale and Fountain Hills, surprisingly chose non-candidate Al Gore as their favorite presidential nominee in a recent straw poll.
``````````````
Hey! Should not be any surprise to anyone.
paine, nothing against you, just applauding Michael that
"..yep, lets all just sweep it all under the rug........"
That we cannot just keep rolling over and forgetting. Their reasons and decisions are VERY IMPORTANT. Especially when one of those persons kept pushing that war and the patriot act until he was no longer in office to vote on the newer bills.
YES, all this dose matter.
Indy, thank you so much.... I tried calling Charlies Sheriff he trust, Sheriff Sadie Darnell, but they said she is out for a few days (wink wink)
They went to transfer me to Major Charlie, but his secretary Joyce said she had to take a message.
Independents don't get to vote for the allocation of delegates to the nominating convention in Denver in most states. So for starters if you quit the party don't b*tch about who gets nominated later. three out of four likely caucus attendees have made a choice other than the likely winner as of right now no matter who it is. Any one of the men might well beat Hillary head to head but the field is splintered. The rest of the country would be nuts to let Iowa do anything but narrow the field. We do get to see them close up so if someone is not viable there is usually a good reason.
Is Charlie in the hospital or the jail?
Linda, I did get an acknowledgment from one of the County commissioners of my message and she said she'd share it with her colleague. We are just going to have to trust people on the ground because we can't do anything from far away.
Does anyone know if Charlie has any family? Privacy regulations are going to make it hard for friends to have any input. One wonders if Charlie has given a power of attorney for medical care to anyone.
One reason I ask is because it's something that single people need to worry about. Even parents have no say in the affairs of an adult child. That's also why people should be able to enter into domestic partnerships to share these life and death responsibilities.
Phil,
Charlie has been taken to the hospital with weak vital signs. I talked to the jail and they have outsourced jail medical resources so got no information on his status. He has been on a hunger strike for a week. This article details his ordeal and current condition. They are promising an update soon.
Please call the jail and express your concern about his treatment. This may very well be life or death.
How do you overcome the probability that most men won't vote for Hillary because she's a woman and most women won't vote for her just because she is a woman?
This is what is called, "just in time"
Please tune in to MSNBC's Hardball and CNBC's Kudlow and Company today to watch as Senator Dodd continues to display leadership in addressing the turmoil in the mortgage markets. Dodd will be on Hardball at 5:00 p.m. EDT on MSNBC and Kudlow and Company airs at 5:00 p.m. EDT on CNBC.
Dodd's fresh off a meeting with Bernanke, the chairman of the Fed.
We don't have cable.
Major Lee just returned my call.
He said they have been taking care of Charlie and seeing to his medical needs, which is why he is at the hospital. Because he is considered an inmate, they will be working at getting him back and addressing any medical care he needs from the jail. He said according to reports, it is possible they will be having Charlie back today.
He said they have nothing to do with the law portions, his responsibility is the care of the inmates and they have been. Major Lee said he does recommend email communication with his lawyer that we can all stay informed.
Without us loading down Mr. Little, Charlie's lawyer, do we have someone that will stay in touch with the blogs and Charlie's friends via contact by Mr. Little?
Dodd has been interviewed on the Constitution
Do you believe the president can pick and choose which laws to obey?
No. Like every American, the President has a responsibility to uphold the Constitution and each and every law of this country.Will you uphold the right of habeas corpus for all persons taken into custody by the government?
Yes. I have said repeatedly that I will restore the Constitutional rights of this country in my first hour as President. The Military Commissions Act denies habeas corpus - a fundamental element of our Constitution and international law – for individuals held in U.S. custody. My proposed legislation restores this writ, and goes even further to bar information acquired through torture from being introduced as evidence in trials.Will you allow members of your administration to answer questions under oath from Congress?
Yes. I am a strong proponent for open government, and firmly believe in the system of checks and balances devised by our forebears. The American people should have the right to know that their elected officials and appointees are doing their jobs lawfully – knowledge they have been denied under this Administration.
Oh, go ahead. Load Joe Little down! I'm sure he can use a little excitement in his life. And knowing that there's a world outside the plantation won't hurt. :)
Thanks for the report. He never called me back....
I don't think that's truthful. If you read the article, they have NOT been taking care of his medical needs. He has been treated poorly and ridiculed in the jail.
The reporter seems to be getting this across. I hope others have called the jail to let them know we are watching. It isn't about US getting information but monitoring THEM.
Here is an article on Charile's treatment in jail. I was informed they have outsourced medical care there....
http://www.highspringsherald.com/articles/2007/08/17/breaking_news/break01.txt
Linda in SF, just to be clear. I don't think the jail director is being truthful. You, of course, are !
Do you have his attorney's email?
