Your Grassroots All-Star Winner!

Written by: Sheri Divers on Apr 26, 2007 4:32 PM

Thousands of votes came in from around the country. DFA members pushed hard getting out the vote for all three Grassroots All-Star finalists -- generating incredible support for each campaign. In the end, there can be only one winner.

Lt. Colonel Charlie Brown is your 2007 DFA Grassroots All-Star!

Now it's up to us to back the endorsement up with real action. Please contribute to his campaign right now:

http://www.democracyforamerica.com/2007allstar

After Charlie Brown came within 3% of winning the district last November, Karl Rove put eight-term Republican incumbent Rep. John Doolittle on his "Priority Defense" list. You can bet that Rove will pull out all the stops to keep this seat for Republicans in 2008.

However, not all is going well for Republican Doolittle. Since the last election, the FBI raided his personal residence and has stepped up the investigation into his dealings with convicted GOP lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Within a week of the raid, Doolittle stepped down from his position on the powerful House Appropriations Committee.

Ousting Doolittle from this rural California district will not be easy. Charlie Brown will need everything we've got and then some to beat back the GOP machine. Please contribute right now to jump start the campaign:

http://www.democracyforamerica.com/2007allstar

Last year after you made Jerry McNerney your DFA Grassroots All-Star, you helped lead him to victory against so-called unbeatable Republican incumbent Richard Pombo. Now, if we work together, we will do it again! Victory in 2008 depends on you.

Thank you for everything you do,

Jim Dean
Chair

How about we have some transparency in the voting next time?

We should have a link to the totals and how much a role IRV played in the outcome.

Dear Friends,

Which Democratic candidates will join Senator Dodd and support the Feingold-Reid legislation designed to safely end the war in Iraq?

Which will support combating climate change through a corporate carbon tax on the country's largest polluters?

We'll all find out during tonight's debate.

But sometimes sixty second answers aren't enough. Maybe you have more questions about Senator Dodd's position on a certain issue or an inquiry about the general progress of the campaign.

Here's your chance to be the moderator and ask the questions YOU want answered.

Join Deputy Campaign Manager Matt Butler, Policy Director Amos Hochstein and other campaign staffers in the "war room," LIVE on video, at 7:00.

http://ChrisDodd.com/SC_Debate

Have a question that wasn't asked during the debate?

An inquiry about the short and long-term goals of the campaign?

Whose record isn't quite matching their rhetoric?

Submit your questions during the debate, then watch for a response from the Deputy Campaign Manager, Policy Director and other staffers in real time.

http://ChrisDodd.com/SC_Debate

When the debate ends, join Congressman Xavier Becerra for more discussion and a complete wrap-up of the evening's events.

We hope you'll take us up on this unique opportunity to engage in a two-way conversation with the campaign this evening.

UH, OH, don't get me started.

...tooo late :)

I (as most know) live in Cincinnati when JK QUICKLY conceded, after promising to count every vote. That's after all those horrible reports of voting problems and incredible lines. We all were screaming and pleading for him to ask for a recount. I was even making calls from my home double checking how people voted. He was infuriating.

WELL, when he came out for our "stepitup" event to promote his book, he talked a bit about that. He's been using Al Gore to promote his book, but never thanked or acknowledged Al Gore for his efforts on Global Warming, paving the way for him to write this book and get the attention he is getting. Then someone yelled out from the audience about Bush. He said "oh, don't get me started on Bush". Then he said he "wanted to thank everyone there for their hard work and support, too bad I couldn't get you all to move to Ohio". I screached, "oh, no. He did not just say that" But he did, enough to even get my hubby to yell out "WE DID...."but I covered his mouth and didn't let him finish.

I could NOT believe he went there and blamed Ohioans that way, when he walked away....HELL, handed over the election that way.

If the Dems continue to vote to fund the Occupation of Iraq, then they are to blame as well.  Let's not be hypocrites here.  Cindy and Norman are right.

One thing's for sure. DCDems will only come as close to doing what's right as the closeness of their feet held to the fire. Cut 'em no slack.

I often wish Kerry hadn't dropped out of the prez primary. I think he learned so much from his mistakes in 2004

I imagine what he learned (or finally figured out) is that nobody likes him. In 2004 he was the default choice after the assassination of Dean.

Now, when you win the Special Election against Tom Sullivan after Doolittle gets convicted (or indicted and resigns to spend more time with his family), I hope you don't mind if we keep the fire lit underneath you.  ;o))

We're sure you'll do a great job, but we'll be there to remind you if the DLC'rs try to pull you over to the right.

We need to get Clean Money campaigns in CA so you don't have to worry about the DLC/corporate influence that so many succumb to.

I dunno Sitka, Kerry got nearly 50 mil votes.
I was really angry about conceding the Ohio count. The logic is the uncounted votes did not equal the difference in votes to Bush so he conceded.
But principles do count for something and the principle is to count all of the votes.

You may not like Kerry and I saw Dean as a rank amateur who had no business on the big stage. We can continue this war of words forever but it is pointless as we have a common enemy in the WH and neither of our favored candidates is running...

Sitka,
I do agree with you that if Dems fund the war then they own it. They must stand fast and force Bush to bring the troops home.

As an aside, we must all contact our elected officials and media outlets with demands to support the get-out-of-Iraq bill.
If they don't then they are just as bad as the Repubs.

Why? isnt the country that you served supposed to be free for "anybody can become president"?

Maybe its time for some "amateurs" to inherit the WH and govt in general.I mean, they couldnt do much worse as compared to the so called 'professionals'....................

Tel ya what..........you wanna really turn this country around?  Put a non politician in based on this platform.........1)nuclear freeze and reduction 2)military cuts across the board and demilitarization, 3) universal health care  4) more teachers and police  5)free college education for anyone who wants it  and a NEW Deal..................foreign policy re-asesment and immediate dialogues with all nations and factions.............0 dependance on foreign oil for transport

Now, this wont happen of course and idealistic except for a majority of the rest of the planet..............and the country is/will be declining for decades to come..................but its worth a try............

Howard Dean was great on MSNBC and CNN today. Video is up at the DNC for the first one.

http://www.dnc.org/a/2007/04/governor_dean_o_27.php

Haven't seen a video from CNN yet, but will put the transcript later. He blasted Rudi for not being prepared for 9/11.

Also I am getting concerned about many of our Southern Baptists. Since I was one of them, I can speak out. I think they are becoming more about control of women than about religion. In fact more about control, period.

Here's a couple of the Conservative Warriors:
http://journals.democraticunderground.com/madfloridian/1296

Read up a few posts..you folks continue to live in never-never land.

Deans platform was and is similar to a lot of Dem platforms which is great. However, he had no experience in big matters. A small state where he has little authority is not much of a proving ground for the world stage.
I supported him until the end of Iowa and moved to Kerry who I new of from previous issues. (VNVAW, etc).
He did great with the internet and all other candidates benefited from his experience.
Turning the reins over to a rank amateur is absurd. Even governors experienced in world events struggled when elected.
Dean is in a perfect spot now as all of his considerable talents are being used.

52,
Not all of us like kool-aid but there are several undeserved digs above. We had this discussion earlier. I am not one to follow any group without reason.
Why I am here is a valid question and I really have no answer. Some of you have opinions and logic that really interest me. some of you make no sense at all.
You certainly are not very friendly....
Maybe that is because Dean crashed and burned in the infancy of his campaign and you can't get over it.
Unlike Oler, I don't berate you for your preceived lack of logic. The last I heard, no one here as all the answers.

So since I can't tell you why I am here perhaps it is better to go elsewhere...
Thanks for forcing me to figure it out. I seem to be wasting my time anyway.
